Last year the B&MKWP Trust submitted evidence to the National Infrastructure Commission (NIC) about the potential role of the Waterway Park as important infrastructure within the Oxford/Milton Keynes/Cambridge corridor. The Trust and the Canal and River Trust (CRT) made a presentation to a Conference run by the South East Midlands Enterprise Partnership (SEMLEP) last October on the same theme. The Trust and CRT are continuing their dialogue with the NIC, particularly around the role that the Waterway Park can play as part of the important and strategic landscape which sets the scene for planned new development. There are many examples around the country of where waterways have played an important role in establishing high quality urban design for both new development and regeneration of older areas. The Bedford and Milton Keynes Waterway Park can do the same!
