“Marking the Waterway Route”

As part of promoting the Bedford & Milton Keynes Waterway Park, on 3rd Novembers a group of Looking for suitable locations to mark the waterway routeBMKWT Board members walked a 5 mile section of the route between Wootton Green and the Forest Centre in Marston Vale with the aim of identifying suitable locations to mark the route of the Waterway Park in different ways. The Board members were joined by staff from the Forest  of Marston Vale who already have a lot of experience in signposting routes and  creating a sense of identity through simple artworks and planting schemes.

The walk started from Ridge Road in Kempston,  past Bell Farm and on to Berry Wood before crossing the A4_mg_15514eos-7d21 via the underpass already constructed to take the waterway. The final section of the walk was alongside Stewartby Lake before finishing at the Forest Centre  in Marston Vale. Although not all of the route is publicly accessible at the moment the Trust aims to work with the Forest of Marston Vale and other Consortium Partners to establish a clear and walkable route from Bedford to the Forest Centre.
